Can My Rare Plant Go to WA?

Western Australia has a “permitted list” (the WAOL). We regularly and successfully ship:

  • Aroids: Most Philodendron and Anthurium species.
  • Hoya: A huge variety of Hoya are permitted in WA.
  • Orchids: We ship many flasked and potted orchids to Perth.
  • Cacti: Most ornamental cacti (subject to individual species checks).

⚠️ WA Prohibitions: Some plants are strictly prohibited.

  • Download the WA Prohibited Plants List (PDF)
  • No Soil: Plants must be treated or sent in approved media.
  • No Myrtaceae: Due to Myrtle Rust, most Myrtaceae are restricted.
  • Begonia, Citrus, Euphorbia, Hibiscus, Senecio, Solanum.    Please note these will appear as Permitted on the WAOL list… But only with certain treatments that are not usually possible !

WA Plant Shipping FAQ

What is the WAOL?

The Western Australia Organism List is the master database of what is allowed in WA. We check this for every plant you send us to ensure it won’t be seized.

Why can’t I buy plants from Victoria for WA?

WA Biosecurity has strict rules regarding Potato Cyst Nematode. We generally cannot facilitate plants with roots from VIC to WA; however, unrooted cuttings are often fine.

How do I know if my plant is legal?

Search the WAOL online, or simply send us the botanical name. We’ll verify it for you before you spend money on shipping.
