Looking to ship rare plants to Darwin or the Northern Territory? The NT has unique biosecurity protocols designed to protect its vital agricultural industries from pests like Melon Thrips and exotic Fruit Flies. Bringing plants into the Territory requires specific chemical treatments, inspections, and a valid Plant Health Certificate.
Based in Nambour, Queensland, we act as your professional quarantine concierge. We receive your plants from any Australian nursery or collector, ensure they meet all NT Government entry requirements, and manage the official inspection process so your collection arrives safely and legally.

Restricted Plants in the NT

Most rare indoor plants and ornamentals travel well to the NT. However, be aware of the following:

  • Fruiting Plants: Monstera deliciosa, Citrus, and Passionfruit have extra restrictions due to fruit fly.
  • Myrtaceae: Eucalyptus and Melaleuca are restricted to protect against Myrtle Rust.
  • Banana & Grapes: Highly restricted; requires specific permits.
⚠️ Address Requirement: NT Biosecurity does not allow plants to be delivered to PO Boxes. You must provide a physical street address for your delivery.

NT Plant Shipping FAQ

Do I need an import permit?

For most nursery stock and rare indoor plants, our Plant Health Certificate (PHC) is sufficient. However, certain “high-risk” plants may require you to apply for a personal NT Import Permit. Contact us to check.

What is a ‘Fruit Fly Free’ zone?

Areas like Ti Tree have even stricter rules to keep fruit flies out of commercial orchards. If you live in these zones, please let us know so we can ensure additional compliance.

How long does shipping to Darwin take?

Once dispatched from our facility on Monday, most plants arrive in Darwin by Wednesday or Thursday.
