* If you cut any succulent plant for any reason like cuttings you can stop the cut edges from rotting by applying super glue….this appears to be the most efficient way to protect that plant.
* Adeniums and Frangipanis can be grown from cuttings…but beware of rot.
* Most Dracaenas and Cordylines can be propagated by cutting them off and planting the cut piece back in the ground. In addition the head of the cutback plant will come back quickly with 2 or 3 heads usually.
* Some Maidenhair Trees the Ginkgo biloba have been dated at 2500 years old while the species itself existed in the Dinosaur Era some 120-250 Million years ago
* Pimples can often be a reaction of the pores of the skin to being blocked. The pores of the skin are there for a reason and resent being continually blocked. Blockages can be caused by all sorts of creams from cosmetic to sun protection. It can be thought we should apply more cream but no…the solution is to wash the area thoroughly once using soap and water and then do a thorough second wash with water. Let the pores breathe.
Last Months Did You Know
* The Euphorbias provide us with some amazing plants and quite variable also. They are known as the Spurges and belong to the Family Euphorbiacaea not just the genus Euphorbia. The word Spurge comes from the Old English ‘espurge’ (to purge) when the milky sap was used as a purgative.
* Euphorbias range from tiny annual plants to large long lived trees and there are 2000 species in the Euphorbia genus…one of the largest. Some are cactus like succulents but different to cactus.
* All Euphorbias have a milky white sap (to deter those that might eat them) and most have unusual and unique floral features.
* As the Euphorbias do not have true petals in their floral arrangement they attract pollinators with nectar, colour and unusual shapes.
* One in four people in Canadian British Columbia is employed in the Timber Logging Industry.

If price is your main consideration the we will accommodate you.
We decided to up the ante and beat any competitor by 12.5% not 10%.
Twenty years ago we stopped sending tiny plants in 40-50mm pots & introduced our current long 70mm pot. The 70mm pot has 4.3 times bigger volume than a 50mm pot and we can grow a plant 4 times the size in it and that’s what we do!
As other suppliers have come in and do offer the 45-50mm pot we are giving you the opportunity to buy this size also. And our price for these tiny plants is less than any other selling the same size plant. If you find a commercial business paying GST with a lower price we will beat it by 12.5%.

When we were searching for Hoyas in PNG we would do straight line transacts so as to do a random sample of the forest. Always starting on a ridge and ending on an opposite ridge crossing a creek or river.
One of my guides Rosie had never done this type of thing but she could spot a hoya flower at the top of a tree from 80 metres away. Anyway we never found a single hoya in the shady understory of the forest.

Where we found all our Hoyas was on the edge of an opening facing the sun where they managed to
arrange themselves to get exactly the amount of sun they wanted. They were either on the edge of a river or on the edge of an opening or on the edge of the sea when we explored the Island of Sidea.

Today we have one of those Hoyas in our Catalogue …its called Hoya coronarium New Guinea Gold Star….this Hoya actually likes full sun.
Some Hoyas will flower for you under filtered light and if so leave it there. But as a rule try and get your hoyas some morning sun or mixed sun.

Anxiety is Often Disguised

Did you know everyone has a certain degree of anxiety….its just that there are degrees of anxiety. Also some of us are better at disguising it than others and some have escape behaviours to temporarily escape their anxiety.
Anxiety is a feeling caused by fear (worry) that something harmful will happen. Its the fight or flight reaction we were born with to keep ourselves safe….so that when this reaction is triggered we are self injected with the ‘Stress Hormones’ Adrenalin, Cortisol and Norepinephrine ready to fight or perform at our best or run like hell for a short period. If that fear is retriggered in our mind …those hormones will flow just through the thought of that stressful situation without the physical situation actually existing. If this fear reaction continually cycles our body will have to do something with this excess chemical and the resulting chemical reactions are the physical cause of that anxious feeling! And having these chemical imbalances there continually will have health ramifications.
Anxiety is always a result of overthinking situations and lower self esteem than you would like. Being anxious is being out of balance. You may know the cause of your fear or it could be hidden in your sub conscious way back in your childhood.
Here are some examples of disguised anxiety:
Addictions, Procrastination, Controlling Behaviour, Power Playing, Judgement of Others. The last 3 are ways of trying to elevate our self esteem by lowering that of others!
Here are some examples of how we reduce Anxiety:
Sport & Physical Exercise, Habits and Rituals, Talking it Out, Being Absorbed in Something, Music, Relaxation and Meditation, Gardening & Creation.
It is good to reduce anxiety but better to eliminate it!

Here are the 6 Main Fears we have in our lives and if you can’t overcome them it will be stressful and cause anxiety:
The Fear of Poverty, The Fear of Loss of Love, The Fear of Criticism (Humiliation, Shame & Worthlessness), The Fear of ill Health, The Fear of Old Age and The Fear of Death.

NEXT MONTH .. How to eliminate Anxiety.
The first step in eliminating anxiety is recognising that you have it to some degree!

How do You Know if Someone Has a Crush on You!

Here are some astonishing Facts….look for these telltale signs.
First of all if you want the attention thats great….secondly if you dont be respectful of the other persons feelings & feel flattered. If you are male don’t get carried away…females have crushes for sport!!
The person 1. Might take a detour to walk past you or brush past.
2. Make up an excuse like a game to touch you.
3 Laugh at your lame jokes.
4. Always pointing his/her feet directly at you.
5. If a shy person might avoid making eye contact.
6. Ask a lot of questions.
7. Find reasons to hang out.

TAKE A RISK WITH A PLANT….You will be rewarded many times over
The Future Belongs to the Risk Takers …The future belongs to the risk takers, not the security seekers. Life is perverse in the sense that the more you seek security, the less of it you have. But the more you seek opportunity, the more likely it is that you will achieve the security that you desire…..Brian Tracy.

Ben the teenaged lad next door has spiked hair, nose ring, and baggy clothes complete with boots and undone laces. This week he was overheard telling a friend, “I don’t really like to dress like this.”
”Then why do you?” asked the friend.”It keeps my parents from dragging me everywhere with them.”

Please write down your Password and Username.

Yes, we know from experience that we always tell ourselves we will remember it….but do we? And its often the Username that gets muddled up the most. Just think most people seem to have 3 usernames and three passwords they commonly use… that means there are 9 different ways these can be combined and that’s why its so easy to use the wrong one if you don’t record it. If you have completely forgotten which one you can easily call us we will take you off completely and you can register.

Combined Postage/Shipping
We do combine postage/shipping with all our orders. This means you can buy as many plants as you like for a single postage/shipping price. eg, in NSW you might buy 100 plants for $16 freight.
Our Plants are not sent Bare Rooted
All our plants are sent in pots. Mostly in a pot of 70mm diameters and 110mm deep. This pot is 4 times the volume of the tiny 40mm tubes that many other suppliers use. Our Ferns are sent in 100mm pots. * Very large plants from large pots (Bamboo, Fiddle Leaf Fig, Heliconias) may be sent bare rooted.
However we do supply some Tiny plants for $3.90 to satisfy customers who like small prices. These plants are specified as Tiny Plants for Tiny Prices and are priced at $3.90.

If you can’t find what you’re looking in our catalogue, you can use the search bar at the top of all our pages, above navigational menu and also below the side Menu.

All Plants on our website are available, not just the ones in our latest catalogue.

Find a place where you can run some horizontal tie wires and run between two posts, trees or whatever. Run a tie wire about every 25-30cm and where the wires meet the post attach a pot of hoya of the climbing variety. You can strap them on or nail the pots on. Let the hoyas run along the wires as they grow. Vines that run horizontally produce more flowers than those running vertically.

Mrytle Rust Alert now affects some plants into the NT & SA, Tas as well as WA…..which means we cannot sent plants from Family Myrtacea to these states. Restrictions will soon be lifted in Victoria as Myrtle Rust has been found in 60 locations. In reality it has probably been around Australia the last 100 years but it needs a very wet year to be noticeable.

…WA & SA, Tas & NT Customers….

There is an very old alert for Myrtle Rust still standing in WA & NT the following potential host genus are not allowed entry for probably an extended period:
Austromyrtus, Callistemon, Eugenia, Feijoa, Kunzea, Leptospermum, Melaleuca, Myrciaria, Psidium, Syzygium, Xanthostemon, Rhodomyrtus.
These are the plants that may appear in our catalogue & is not the complete list. The complete list includes all the Family Myrtaceae. It was hoped this would be a short term measure…..but the authorities are in no rush to take action that would lead to lift the restriction.

There are other plants that are not permitted into WA for various reasons. We get all our plants approved by the State Dept of Agricultures when sending.

Here are a few more for your information.

Euphorbia species, Citrus species, Microcitrus species, Hibiscus species, Azalea species, Feijoa species, Vaccinium species Blueberry, Rhododendron, Vireya.
