DID YOU KNOW

* If we planted more trees on our planet we could overcome the mooted effects of the greenhouse gasses, produce more oxygen and tie up the carbon dioxide in the wood produced. But governments only respond to pressure groups and come up with ridiculous and costly non solutions.
* Did you know that the Bicarb Soda (not Baking Soda) in your pantry is naturally produced in your body and you can dissolve a drink a little to keep your system on the alkaline side which is reported to have many health benefits….including cancer protection. There is a lot of info on this on the world wide web.
* Many plants develop a very strong starch filled rhizome from which all new shoots come. They can actually come fom a mature plant.
Last Months Did You Know
* Coconut fibre, known as Cocopeat is a brilliant medium for growing a very wide range of plants. It has excellent drainage qualities and water holding capacity. You buy it in small compressed blocks and it immediately breaks up on watering. Itsespecially good with epiphytes.
* Mushroom Plant (Rungia klossii) provides a very rich source of Iron. If you are iron deficient in any way or are vegan or vegetarian try a few leaves every week. The human body needs iron to ensure a healthy blood count (esp haemaglobin) and it needs iron in a multitude of forms…not just the ones you get out of a bottle or injection. Trust nature to give you some of that source.
* Skin cancers can be easily completely removed using Radium Weed (Euphorbia peplus) for smaller ones or Black Salve for larger ones. Black Salve is a mixture of Natural herbs (2 ..galangal and turmeric found in our nursery) plus an oxide…..look it up on the internet.
* Interestingly where radium weed was denounced as quackery by some western medicos in the past an expensive radium weed gel has now been produced by the pharmaceutical industry….which is now being prescribed!
PS Western Medicine is a huge field but its only been running for a hundred years and as well as the successes it often makes terrible mistakes. Rules have to be made to cover our medical parctitioners from litigation or the system would run out of control….but the rules are for the practititioners…we only need to consider them along with all the other options.
* One secret to managing chronic pain is not the next drug you can take but to ‘keep on moving’ in the garden.
*If you are driving and start feeling sleepy (or any time you feel drowsy)…try exactly 3 minutes of deep breathing using your diaphragm….to enliven yourself for the next few hours. PS Before you do this make sure you are not one who feels faint if breathing too deeply.
* Make a refreshing drink by dicing some ginger root and mix with boiling water. Then fridge it and dilute to taste with water, mineral or soda water.

PLANTS FROM $3.90….WE BEAT OTHERS BY 12.5%!!!

If price is your main consideration the we will accommodate you.
We decided to up the ante and beat any competitor by 12.5% not 10%.
Twenty years ago we stopped sending tiny plants in 40-50mm pots & introduced our current long 70mm pot. The 70mm pot has 4.3 times bigger volume than a 50mm pot and we can grow a plant 4 times the size in it and that’s what we do!
As other suppliers have come in over the years, they are offering tiny plants in 45-50mm pots and even bare rooted plants. If you find a commercial business paying GST with a lower price for the same size plant as ours, we will beat it by 12.5%.

WHAT IS A JUJUBE…Ziziphus jujuba Mill.

Jujube is also known as Chinese Date and has been eaten both raw and dried in China for thousands of years. It is regarded as a delicacy and as well as a great taste has fabulous medicinal values. An Australian naturopath known to us uses Jujube base in 75% of her herbal health mixes. In China the fruit is revered. Many Cultivars have been developed in China and we believe Li and Winter Dong are two of the best. Li Jujube is known as the biggest Jujube and this is a newly introduced rare precious variety of superior quality best eaten fresh. It has a thin red skin with a crisp green-white flesh that is sweet. Long. diameter 4.1-4.9cm. Diameter 3.5-4.6cm. and 35-80gm weight.

WHAT IS A RHIZOMErhizomes

Some people are under the misconception that a rhizome is inferior to a potted plant. A rhizome can ne the sole energy source for a mature plant 4 or 5m tall plant. The plant is dug out of the ground and most of the stem cut off….this is hard yakka. The rhizome of that plant is the thickened starch filled underground club like structure that the plant grows off. You will notice a new growth bud on the rhizome from which the new shoot comes…more will probably develop if you look after the plant. Because it was the energy source for a larger plant growth from the rhizome will be rapid and will soon be the size of the original plant.

Some rhizomes are edible eg edible Ginger, Galangal and Turmeric and many others. The best time to put in rhizomes if you live south of the QLD border or equivalent in WA is from October to March. They need warmth to sprout.

HEARTBURN SUFFERERS – I NEED 5 VOLUNTEERS

I have found a self massage technique which eliminates the need for Pharmaceutical antacids and PPI’s
(Proton Pump Inhibitors) for people suffering heartburn from stomach acid burning their esophagus! Recent research has shown that PPI’s have a good chance of bringing on early demensure and osteoporosis because in the absence of acid the body seeks to make more by sucking out nutrients from the brain and bones! The research has been published on the world wide web.

BUT I DON’T KNOW IF THIS ONE ALMOST INSTANT RESULT WAS A FLUKE OR SOME OTHER WONDER OF NATURE.

So I would like to teach five people this simple 3 minute massage and check if they get a benefit.
To qualify you must be sincere to do the exercise and have severe heartburn. I will take the 5 most severe cases. Phone me on 0408 687 109 if interested. You don’t have to be brave to do this simple massage and it cant hurt you.

TRUE LIES

As a group of soldiers at Nambour Barracks stood in formation, the Drill Sergeant said, “All right! All you idiots, fall out.”As the rest of the squad wandered away, one soldier Billy Bunter remained at attention. The Drill Instructor walked over until he was eye to eye with him, and then raised a single eyebrow. The soldier smiled and said, “Sure was a lot of ‘em, hey, sir?”

Please write down your Password and Username.

Yes, we know from experience that we always tell ourselves we will remember it….but do we? And its often the Username that gets muddled up the most. Just think most people seem to have 3 usernames and three passwords they commonly use…..so that means there are 9 different ways these can be combined and that’s why its so easy to use the wrong one if you don’t record it. If you have completely forgotten which one you can easily call us we will take you off completely and you can register.

Combined Postage/Shipping
We do combine postage/shipping with all our orders. This means you can buy as many plants as you like for a single postage/shipping price. eg, in NSW you might buy 100 plants for $16 freight.
Our Plants are not sent Bare Rooted
All our plants are sent in pots. Mostly in a pot of 70mm diameters and 110mm deep. This pot is 4 times the volume of the tiny 40mm tubes that many other suppliers use. Our Ferns are sent in 100mm pots. * Very large plants from large pots (Bamboo, Fiddle Leaf Fig, Heliconias) may be sent bare rooted.
However we do supply some Tiny plants for $3.90 to satisfy customers who like small prices. These plants are specified as Tiny Plants for Tiny Prices and are priced at $3.90.

If you can’t find what you’re looking in our catalogue, you can use the search bar at the top of all our pages, above navigational menu and also below the side Menu.

All Plants on our website are available, not just the ones in our latest catalogue.

Run a tie wire about every 25-30cm and where the wires meet the post attach a pot of hoya of the climbing variety. You can strap them on or nail the pots on. Let the hoyas run along the wires as they grow. Vines that run horizontally produce more flowers than those running vertically.

Mrytle Rust Alert now affects some plants into the NT & SA, Tas as well as WA…..which means we cannot sent plants from Family Myrtacea to these states. Restrictions will soon be lifted in Victoria as Myrtle Rust has been found in 60 locations. In reality it has probably been around Australia the last 100 years but it needs a very wet year to be noticeable.

…WA & SA, Tas & NT Customers….

There is an very old alert for Myrtle Rust still standing in WA & NT the following potential host genus are not allowed entry for probably an extended period:
Austromyrtus, Callistemon, Eugenia, Feijoa, Kunzea, Leptospermum, Melaleuca, Myrciaria, Psidium, Syzygium, Xanthostemon, Rhodomyrtus.
These are the plants that may appear in our catalogue & is not the complete list. The complete list includes all the Family Myrtaceae. It was hoped this would be a short term measure…..but the authorities are in no rush to take action that would lead to lift the restriction.

There are other plants that are not permitted into WA for various reasons. We get all our plants approved by the State Dept of Agricultures when sending.

Here are a few more for your information.

Euphorbia species, Citrus species, Microcitrus species, Hibiscus species, Azalea species, Feijoa species, Vaccinium species Blueberry, Rhododendron, Vireya.
